Development Tree Management
Roden Cutler Lodge is a residential aged care home located in the upper north shore suburb of Gordon. Situated amongst natural bushland the grounds include heritage-listed buildings that reflect the rich history of the estate.
The property comprises the grounds of two former homes, ‘Pittmedden’ and ‘Cheshunt’. These properties were purchased by John Woolcott Forbes in 1936 and subsequently demolished for a new house called, ‘Burnham Thorpe’.
The Burnham Thorpe building was purchased by the Red Cross Society in 1940 and opened as Lady Gowrie home in 1941 and still stands today as part of Anglicare’s Gordon Quarter village.
Arboreport was engaged to provide preliminary design input, tree impact assessment in 2015. This involved providing arboricultural advice at a s30 conciliation meeting with the LEC. Arboreport was then retained until the completion of construction providing continuity and continual stewardship for tree management as the site was redeveloped retaining the remaining heritage items. Completion was in early 2022.
During construction, the site was subject to two ‘mini tornado’ storms which damaged many trees. Arboreport prepared reports recommending pruning and other mitigation measures for Council to accompany the required applications for permits.
